Former President George W. Bush will fundraise for a “handful” for Republican House and Senate candidates as the November midterms draw closer, Politico reports. Bush’s fundraising tour reportedly begins Wednesday with a closed-door event in Fort Worth for Rep. Will Hurd (R-TX), and then he will travel to Florida on Friday to two events for Florida Gov. Rick Scott. Bush will also campaign for Rep. Kevin Cramer (R-ND), Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX), and Senate candidates Josh Hawley and Mike Braun in the coming weeks. “While he prefers to consider himself retired from politics, President Bush recognizes how important it is to keep the Senate and decided to help a few key candidates,” Bush spokesman Freddy Ford said. Bush has kept a low profile since the end of his presidency, though he delivered a speech in late 2017 that slammed Trumpism in favor of the “dynamism that immigration” brings and the “value of free markets and international trade.”
