The Turkish government told U.S. officials it has obtained a video and audio recording proving Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi was killed inside Istanbul’s Saudi Arabian consulate, The Washington Post reports. The recordings were described to U.S. officials as proof Khashoggi was detained, killed, and dismembered last week. A source told the Post that Khashoggi is heard being “interrogated, tortured, and then murdered” on the audio recording, and another source said the writer can be heard being beaten on the same recording. It is reportedly unclear if U.S. officials have seen or heard the video or audio recording themselves. The Saudis have denied any involvement in the columnist’s disappearance.
