President Donald Trump is reportedly set to approve around $50 billion in new tariffs on Chinese goods. According to The Wall Street Journal, it remains unclear when the tariffs will be imposed. They come as Washington and Beijing are locked in a bitter trade dispute. Republicans on Capitol Hill have been highly critical of Trump’s penchant for imposing tariffs, and they themselves have been battling over whether to handicap the president’s authority over trade policy.
