Russia Investigation: FBI And DOJ Will Reportedly Defy Trump and Redact Secret Documents

President demanded their “immediate declassification.”

The Department of Justice and the FBI will defy Donald Trump’s demand that secret documents from the Russia investigation be declassified and will redact the material, Bloomberg News reports. Citing three officials said to be familiar with the matter, the report says the documents are being reviewed and will be censored upon release. Trump wants some information, such as text messages between officials on the investigation, to be declassified immediately—because he said he suspects it will reveal a bias against him. The agencies want to guard against revealing classified sources and methods, so they plan to redact the material. However, Trump has the power to override the agencies and declassify material on his own if he’s unsatisfied by the level of detail they provide.
