The SAG Awards will be getting a new name next year. Starting with its 32nd edition on March 1, 2026, the iconic award show will be called “the Actor Awards,” said showrunner Jon Brockett and chair of SAG-AFTRA’s Awards Committee JoBeth Williams, stating it is “a perfect next step in the show’s evolution.” SAG, which stands for Screen Actors Guild, began streaming on Netflix for its 30th edition, and organizers have been trying to make it more globally appealing ever since. “Since the show started over 30 years ago, our iconic statuette has always been called The Actor, and simply evolving the show’s name to align with the award itself made obvious sense,” Brockett and Williams said in a joint statement. They further affirmed that “everything about voting, submissions and eligibility remains the same. Only the show name is changing.” This year’s awards saw Demi Moore win Female Actor in a Leading Role for the body-horror film, The Substance. And Timothée Chalamet secured the award for Best Male Actor in a Leading Role for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown.
