Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) was reportedly awarded over $500,000 in damages by a jury in his civil case against neighbor Rene Boucher, who allegedly attacked the senator and broke six of his ribs. According to the Bowling Green Daily News, the jury awarded Paul with “$200,000 in compensatory damages and in a 9-3 vote decided to award $375,000 in punitive damages.” Boucher's attorney, Matt Baker, told the newspaper that his client will “undoubtedly” appeal the decision. Paul's suit originally sought “$1.5 million in compensatory and punitive damages.” The fight between Boucher and Paul reportedly broke out over yard work.
