Dallas Cowboys player Marshawn Kneeland has died at 24, the organization announced Thursday morning. Police dispatch audio revealed that Kneeland was found in a portable toilet with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, TMZ Sports reported. The Frisco Police Department said officers attempted to pull Kneeland over for a traffic violation around 10:39 p.m. but he avoided pursuit, eventually crashing his car on the Dallas Parkway. He fled from the scene on foot, evading officers until they found his body around 1:30 a.m. Kneeland, a defensive end, was only in his second professional season after being selected by the Cowboys during the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He scored his first and only career touchdown during Monday night’s game against the Arizona Cardinals after recovering a blocked punt in the Arizona end zone. “It is with extreme sadness that the Dallas Cowboys share that Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed away this morning,” the organization said in a statement. “Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization. Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family.”
