Silicon Valley Entrepreneur Rents $1,500 Apartment for Two Cats

The sky-high cost of housing in Silicon Valley has driven out many residents, but one entrepreneur has scored a $1,500-a-month apartment—for his two cats. Troy Good is paying for a San Jose studio for Tina and Louise because he moved and could not take them to his new digs and they were not allowed in his college-age daughter’s dorm. The landlord pops in to feed the felines, who will move to Southern California when Good’s daughter gets her own place. “They definitely have the nicest cat apartment in Silicon Valley,” Good, 43, told the San Jose Mercury News. Jennifer Loving, CEO of anti-homelessness organization Destination Home, found symbolism in the unusual situation. “While this story is funny, it really does highlight the tremendous inequity in the Silicon Valley,” she told the newspaper. “We have thousands of people on our streets, and we're paying to make sure that our cats have a place to live.”
