Former Trump White House adviser Steve Bannon complained about George W. Bush not shaking Donald Trump’s hand while the two attended the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter Thursday in Washington, D.C.
On his War Room podcast, Bannon began by saying how poor a president Bush was.
“Bush walks in. The worst president in the history of the country. They did this in a poll yesterday saying that in modern times—among modern presidents, I guess, from Jack Kennedy forward, or maybe Eisenhower forward—that Biden was ranked as the lowest,“ he said. ”Bush is the second-worst president in the history of the country. Only James Buchanan is worse.”
Bannon then went after “Bush-related” people as well for “not respecting anything.”
“All Bushes and Bush-related people: You suck!” he ranted. “You have no class. You’re little people. You’re bitter, Karl Rove. You’re a bitter little man. Bush, you’re the worst president in the history of the country.”
Trump, Bannon would go on to say, has no opinion about Bush not shaking his hand.
“So he gets big-leagued by Bush...trying to humiliate him, trying to embarrass him. Trump doesn’t care. He’s Trump,” Bannon said.
While entering the pew, Bush walked past Trump, gave a standing Barack Obama a tap on the torso, and then sat down.
Bannon also griped about Obama “snubbing” Trump as well, even though the two had what looked like a congenial exchange later. And as for Mike Pence’s greeting with Trump, Bannon complained that it was a “weak, weak handshake.”
Karen Pence, meanwhile, didn’t acknowledge Trump at all.
