The Supreme Court on Monday evening upheld an appeals court decision that blocked extending Wisconsin’s deadline for absentee ballots by six days. As a result of the 5-3 ruling, all absentee ballots must be received—not simply postmarked—by the end of Nov. 3 in order to be counted. Wisconsin has seen a surge of coronavirus cases, and Democrats argued that the rules surrounding absentee ballots should be altered this year in light of the pandemic and potential postal delays.
