Swedish authorities arrested an individual suspected of being a Russian agent Tuesday evening, NPR reports. The individual’s name was reportedly not disclosed, but they are accused of passing information to Russia since 2017. According to the Swedish Security Service, the person was working in the technology sector “on tasks known by our Service to be the type of intelligence sought after by foreign powers.” The individual was also reportedly thought to have been recruited by a Russian intelligence offer who was working in Sweden “under diplomatic cover.” According to NPR, a witness said police stormed a Stockholm restaurant Tuesday night and surrounded two people who were eating at a table. One was arrested, while the other was reportedly released for having “diplomatic immunity.” The Swedish Security Service and a national security prosecutor are running an investigation into the matter. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov and the Russian Foreign Ministry reportedly did not comment.
