Two San Francisco tech leaders sparred on Twitter Friday over a ballot measure aimed at addressing the city’s homelessness crisis. The San Francisco Chronicle reports Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and SalesForce CEO Marc Benioff got into a public spat over Proposition C, which proposes taxing the city’s biggest companies in order to raise up to $300 billion to help the 7,500 homeless individuals and 1,200 homeless families in the city. Dorsey wrote in a tweet that he doesn’t believe Prop C is “the best way” to fix the homelessness issue. Benioff, a supporter of Prop C, then asked Dorsey which homeless programs in the city he was supporting, and how much he’s donated to a homeless housing initiative. Dorsey has yet to respond to Benioff’s tweet. Celebrities like Chris Rock, Will.i.am, and Jewel rallied around Benioff’s support of Prop C on social media earlier this week. Benioff told the newspaper he believes the only way to improve the homelessness situation in San Francisco is to ramp up government spending. “At the end of the day, it’s going to be—are you for the homeless or not for the homeless? For me it’s binary. I’m for the homeless,” he told the Chronicle.
