Actress Mary McCormack has sounded the alarm after she said her husband’s Tesla burst into flames in Los Angeles traffic over the weekend. McCormack tweeted that her husband had to jump out of his car after passersby warned him about flames shooting out of his vehicle. “No accident, out of the blue, in traffic on Santa Monica Blvd,” she wrote. Los Angeles firefighters responded to the scene and had to extinguish the fire, which police later confirmed was not caused by an accident. Tesla called the incident “an extraordinarily unusual occurrence” in a statement on Saturday and promised to investigate. The company has had issues with its autopilot feature in the past, though McCormack has said her husband’s vehicle was a “normal Tesla” with no such features.
