Tesla Stock Holding Judge Recuses Himself From Case Involving Elon Musk
NOT FOR ME
U.S. Circuit Court Judge Reed O’Connor, who recently found himself in hot water after NPR uncovered a filing which showed he owned as much as $50,000 in Tesla stock, has recused himself from a case involving Elon Musk’s X. “I hereby recuse myself from the above numbered case. Please see that it is assigned to another judge per the usual procedure,” O’Connor wrote in his recusal letter on Tuesday. The case was an antitrust lawsuit brought by Musk against the World Federation of Advertisers, whom Musk alleged, “conspired, along with dozens of non-defendant co-conspirators, to collectively withhold billions of dollars in advertising revenue from Twitter, Inc.” The Bush-appointed judge is also overseeing Musk’s lawsuit against Media Matters, which was filed in November. Musk alleged the media watchdog group, also attempted to “drive advertisers from the platform and destroy X Corp.” O’Connor has not recused himself from the Media Matters lawsuit. Musk previously told advertisers to “go f---” themselves in 2023.
