Texas Dad Stabbing and Beating His Toddler Was Shot by Neighbor, Say Cops

A Texas father is accused of fatally stabbing and beating his 16-month-old son Sunday before a neighbor attempted to stop the attack by shooting him in the leg, police said. Witnesses reported that a man was stabbing or beating a child in Lewisville while yelling “Jesus is coming.” A neighbor heard screaming, grabbed a gun, and fired three shots, striking the father once in the leg and ”effectively ending the assault on the child,” Police Capt. Jesse Hunter told The Dallas Morning News. Police have not identified the father, but say he’s in his late twenties or early thirties and was placed under arrest and taken to a hospital. The neighbor, who has also not been identified, will not face police charges.
