Police in Massachusetts have discovered three bodies at the home of a man accused of sexually assaulting and holding a woman captive for the past month. The grisly discovery began with a simple traffic stop on Sunday, when the suspect, 47-year-old Stewart Weldon, was reportedly pulled over for a broken taillight. After Weldon fled from police and crashed into a police cruiser, officers spotted a woman with “gruesome and violent” injuries in his vehicle. She told police Weldon had been holding her captive, repeatedly sexually assaulting her and torturing her. “I never thought I would get away,” she was quoted as saying in a police report. Two bodies were then discovered “in and around” Weldon’s Springfield home on Wednesday, followed by a third body a day later, Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni said Thursday night. Authorities have not said whether Weldon would face charges in connection with the remains found at the property, but Gulluni said other people were living in the house with him.
