Tennessee Titans defensive end Jurrell Casey told CNN that he will protest during the national anthem this year despite fines imposed by the National Football League. “I'm going to take a fine this year, why not?” he said. “I’m going to protest during the flag.” He added: “It is what it is, I ain’t going to let them stop me from doing what I want to do. If they want to have these battles between players and organizations, this is the way it’s going to be.” The NFL passed a new rule saying players must “stand and show respect for the flag and the anthem”or stay in the locker room. Teams will be fined if the rules are violated. Players began kneeling during the national anthem in 2016 to protest racial inequality. What started with former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick quickly spread and sparked widespread debate.
