Eric Adams, the borough president of Brooklyn, said on Sunday that he will start carrying a gun with him to churches and synagogues in light of the massacre at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh on Saturday. “From now on, I will bring my handgun every time I enter a church or synagogue,” said Adams, who served as a New York police captain for more than 20 years. In New York, police officers are expected to carry their guns even while they’re off-duty, but retired officers are not required to do so. “A police officer in a place of worship is different than a permit holder,” Adams added. “Training being the difference.”
