A top North Korean official is reportedly en route to the United States for talks ahead of a proposed second meeting between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Kim Yong Chol, a former spy chief, was photographed at Beijing’s airport and is believed to be booked on a flight for Washington, D.C. with two other North Korean officials, according to South Korea’s Yonhap news agency. He’s reported to be carrying a letter for Trump from Kim Jong Un that may shed light on when the second meeting will take place. Neither the U.S. nor North Korea has announced any meetings between the officials. Kim Yong Chol has previously held talks with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on denuclearization. Meanwhile, Vice President Mike Pence hit out at North Korea for not taking “concrete steps” to dismantle its nuclear-weapons program. “While the president has started a promising dialogue with Chairman Kim, we still await concrete steps by North Korea to dismantle the nuclear weapons that threaten our people and our allies in the region,” Pence said.
