President Trump once again defended Supreme Court Justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh against allegations of sexual assault and misconduct Tuesday, this time personally attacking one of the accusers. “Charges come up from 36 years ago that are totally unsubstantiated?” Trump said, during a press availability following his UN General Assembly speech, alluding to Christine Blasey-Ford’s allegation of attempted rape. He later referenced Deborah Ramirez’s claim that Kavanaugh exposed himself to her during his freshman year at Yale University. “Now a new charge comes up,” he continued, “and she says, well it might not be him and there were gaps and she said she was totally inebriated.” The president added: “The second accuser has nothing... The second accuser thinks maybe he could have been him, maybe not. She admits she was drunk. She admits time lapses. This is a person and this is a series of statements that’s going to take one of the most talented government of the greatest intellects from a judicial standpoint in our country going to keep him off the United States Supreme Court.”
