President-elect Donald Trump wheeled out the family as he rang the bell at the New York Stock Exchange at a ceremony for his recognition by Time magazine as its Person of the Year, which he has scooped for the second time.

Chants of “U.S.A! U.S.A!” rang out at the event as incoming first lady Melania, Trump’s daughter Ivanka and vice president-elect JD Vance stood alongside the president-elect, among others.

The atmosphere reached a crescendo as Trump rang the famous bell and did his signature point into the crowd. He, too, then chanted “U.S.A!” with the crowd.

Department of Health and Human Services secretary nominee Robert F. Kennedy Jr, down in the standing area, was among the recipients of one of Trump’s points.

Beforehand, Trump spoke at the exchange and called the award “a tremendous honor.”

Time magazine, getting this honor for the second time, I think I like it better this time actually,” he said.

It comes after Sam Jacobs, Time’s editor in chief, announced on NBC’s Today show that Trump was Time’s 2024 Person of the Year. Jacobs said Trump was someone who “for better or for worse, had the most influence on the news in 2024.”

“This is someone who made an historic comeback, who reshaped the American presidency and who’s reordering American politics,” Jacobs said. “It’s hard to argue with the fact that the person who’s moving into the Oval Office is the most influential person in news.”

In his own interview with the magazine, the president-elect said his defiance after the July 13 assassination attempt, rising bloodied and raising a fist in the air, turned the tide in his favor.

“A lot of people changed with that moment,” he said.

Trump first made an appearance on Time’s cover in 1989. He was also on the cover during his last presidential stint in 2016, the first time he was named Person of the Year.
