The Trump Organization has announced plans to pump a further $200 million into one of its Scottish golf resorts. The complex, near Aberdeen in the northeast of the country, has been fiercely criticized by locals for failing to deliver promised jobs, environmental damage to a protected area, and the bullying of residents who live nearby. The new plan includes 500 residential homes, 50 hotel cottages, a sports center, and retail, equestrian, and commercial spaces. “Initial interest to our plans have been incredible and, subject to detailed planning approval, we are aiming to break ground next year,” Eric Trump, who along with his brother Donald Jr. now leads the Trump Organization, said in a statement. The new plans will have to be approved by the local government. President Trump was accused of using his trip to the U.K. as an advertisement for his Scottish golf resorts this month, spending most of his time at his Turnberry course.
