Trump Says He’ll Leave DoJ to Decide Whether to Publish Mueller Report
OUT OF MY HANDS
Donald Trump has insisted that it will be left to the Department of Justice to decide whether or not to publish Robert Mueller’s report on Russian interference in his election—and he won’t intervene. In an interview with The Daily Caller, Trump was asked whether he would ultimately decide whether to sign off on the publication of the special counsel’s report. “They’ll have to make their decision within the Justice Department. They will make the decision as to what they do,” the president replied. Trump added that he’s not spoken to Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker about whether the probe is coming to an end, saying: “I never spoke to him about that… I would say that after almost two years, it certainly should be.” Whitaker told reporters Tuesday that he believed the inquiry was nearing its end, saying: “The investigation is, I think, close to being completed, and I hope that we can get the report from Director Mueller as soon as possible.” It has been unclear whether the report will ever be released to the public.
