THAT ESCALATED QUICKLY

President Trump reportedly discussed the possibility of using military force to help topple Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro while speaking with Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) a few weeks ago, Axios reports. “He [Trump] said, ‘What do you think about using military force?’” Graham reportedly recalled to Axios’ Jonathan Swan. “I said, ‘Well, you need to go slow on that, that could be problematic.’ And he said, ‘Well, I'm surprised, you want to invade everybody,’” Graham was quoted as saying. Axios’ report comes days after President Trump threw his support behind Juan Guaidó, a Venezuelan opposition leader who swore himself in this week as interim president. Following Trump’s declaration, Maduro gave all U.S. diplomats 72 hours to leave the country. There is no evidence suggesting that President Trump has or will pursue military action of any kind in Venezuela, however.
