Trump Urges Washington Post Staffers to Strike

President Trump on Sunday took aim at a news organization he routinely accuses of fabricating stories with a made-up claim of his own. “Washington Post employees want to go on strike because Bezos isn’t paying them enough,” he wrote on Twitter. The comment was met with amusement and dismay by Washington Post reporters, many of whom took to Twitter to dispute the claim. More than 400 Washington Post employees signed an open letter earlier this week asking for fair wages and benefits, though there were no reports of a planned strike. Trump went on to suggest a “really long strike” for staffers at the news organization, saying that “we would get rid of Fake News for an extended period of time!” The president’s tweets came shortly after the Post reported that his longtime confidant, Roger Stone, held a meeting with a Russian man offering dirt on Hillary Clinton in exchange for $2 million during the presidential campaign. The previously undisclosed meeting has now come under scrutiny in the ongoing Russia probe.
