Frankenstein’s monster and the Hunchback of Notre Dame were thought of as hideous beings, but were actually sweet and kindhearted. Here’s another example. Frank and Louie is the name of a cat that was born with two faces—two mouths, two noses, two normal eyes, and one large nonfunctioning eye in the center. He’s what’s known as a Janus cat, after the Roman god with two faces, and they seldom survive longer than a few days. But Frank and Louie is now 12 years old, and has set a Guinness world record for the longest-living Janus cat. He lives with a veterinary nurse in Worcester, Mass., who says Frank and Louie often shocks onlookers but usually wins them over quickly because he’s so sweet and affectionate.
