A University of Georgia fraternity has been suspended over a video that showed several people mocking slavery, one person using the n-word, and others saying: “Pick my cotton, bitch.” The Xi Lambda chapter of the Tau Kappa Epsilon frat is temporarily suspended and “there is an investigation underway regarding the students involved in the video,” UGA’s Student Government Association reports. The 30-second video shows one person hitting another with a belt, according to CNN. One man is heard saying “You’re not using the right words” before someone uses the n-word. The national Tau Kappa Epsilon organization said it is “disgusted, appalled, and angered by the remarks shown in the video,” according to a press release. The four people in the video have been expelled from the fraternity chapter, according to TKE, which also confirmed the chapter was temporarily suspended. A UGA statement said the school condemned racism “in the strongest terms” and said it has “no place on our campus.”
