U.S. Men’s Soccer Team Cancels Plans to Train in Qatar

Citing the “developing situation in the region,” the U.S. Soccer Federation announced that the men’s team would train in the U.S. instead.

The U.S. men’s soccer team announced that it would no longer be conducting a training session from Jan. 5-25 in Qatar “due to the developing situation in the region.” The U.S. Soccer Federation had planned to train in Qatar ahead of the 2022 World Cup, which will be held there. But after the U.S. military strike that killed Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, the USSF said they would instead be training in the U.S.
