The U.S. Postal Service released a commemorative stamp for the late rock star John Lennon, according to a Friday report from the New York Daily News. The stamp was issued at a ceremony in Central Park in honor of the late Beatle, who lived in New York in the 1970s, and was attended by his infamous wife, Yoko, and son, Sean. “I know that my father would have been really thrilled to be accepted in this way, officially on a stamp—about as official as it gets, I think,” Sean Lennon said. “I know he’d be as thrilled as I am, as my mom is.” Ono added that “I feel very very lucky [...] And yes, the most complaint I have is that he’s not here. But he’s somewhere in the sky I think.” The News adds that the stamps display a tinted 1974 photo of a bespectacled Lennon—who was himself a stamp collector—and cost $8 a sheet. Lennon’s stamp comes as part of the U.S. Postal Service’s “Music Icons” series, the News added. Elvis Presley, Ray Charles, and Sarah Vaughan are already featured on stamps.
