The U.S. women’s soccer team will defend its World Cup trophy in France next year after sealing qualification for the 2019 tournament Sunday night. The team beat Jamaica 6-0 in a semifinal of the Concacaf Women’s Championship at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas—the top three teams in the championship gain entry for the global soccer tournament. It will be the U.S. women’s eighth World Cup appearance and expectations will be high after the triumph in 2015. The American men’s team missed last summer’s World Cup after losing to Trinidad and Tobago last October, but the women’s team had no such trouble. They’ll face Canada in the Concacaf final on Wednesday, but both teams have already clinched World Cup places. The World Cup tournament kicks off June 7 in Paris.
