After almost a month of occupying a private park, Wall Street protesters have been told by New York officials that they have to move by Friday. They're not breaking any laws, but it's time for a regular cleaning, says the park's owner, Brookfield Properties. Protesters are speculating that the cleanup is a ploy to remove the ever-growing number of protesters from the property, even calling it an "eviction notice." Brookfield denied this, and Mayor Michael Bloomberg even visited the site, telling protesters they will be allowed back after the maintenance work is complete. Meanwhile, protest organizers say they’ve raised $150,000 in contributions.
