The White House announced Thursday evening that the administration would be cancelling its trip to Davos for the World Economic Forum, hours after President Trump cancelled House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's (D-CA) overseas trip. “Out of consideration for the 800,000 great American workers not receiving pay and to ensure his team can assist as needed, President Trump has canceled his Delegation’s trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland,” White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement. The announcement comes after Trump told Pelosi that her overseas trip to Afghanistan, Brussels, and Egypt would be postponed, apparently in response to her announcement that Trump's upcoming State of the Union speech would be canceled until the shutdown was resolved. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin was reportedly slated to lead the delegation at Davos prior to the trip's cancellation.
