The White House is rebuffing the House Oversight Committee’s request for information on how former staff secretary Rob Porter was granted an interim security clearance even as he had been previously accused of domestic abuse. Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.), the chairman of the committee, had asked the White House when the FBI informed West Wing officials that Porter had been accused of domestic abuse, but Marc Short, the legislative affairs chief at the White House, declined to comply with the request and instead sent materials that were already public.
