Whitney Museum New Building by Renzo Piano

New Space

In a unanimous decision, the Whitney Museum of American Art’s board of trustees voted to break ground on a new museum in May 2011. The new six-floor Meatpacking District building will be located next to the High Line and designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Renzo Piano. The building is expected to open in 2015 and will provide essential space for the museum’s exhibitions, collections, and arts programs.
