Yates: DOJ Was Not Consulted on Travel Ban

The White House did not consult the Department of Justice before implementing its travel ban against seven Muslim-majority countries, former acting attorney general Sally Yates testified before Congress on Monday. "Not only was the department not consulted, we weren't even told about it," Yates testified. "I learned about this from media reports." The ban was challenged in courts immediately after its January rollout. Yates, who said she believed the order unconstitutional, ordered DOJ lawyers not to defend it in courts. She was subsequently fired.
