He did say he was ready for a lengthy prison sentence. Matthew Cordle, who confessed on YouTube to killing photographer Vincent Canzani while drunk driving, was sentenced to six and a half years in prison. Cordle came clean in the video, saying the incident occurred after a round of bar-hopping and heavy drinking on June 2. The video was posted on September 3, and swiftly went viral. While prosecutors had initially gone for a maximum sentence, a push by the victim’s family not “to see two lives lost in this terrible situation” caused prosecutors to ask for a six-to-eight year sentence.
