The Commerce Department will temporarily allow Chinese telecommunications firm ZTE Corp. to operate in the U.S., according to a document obtained by Bloomberg. Its permit from the department’s Bureau of Industry and Security will allow ZTE to continue some activities between July 2 and Aug. 1. It was not clear if the company will be permanently allowed to operate in the future, but a source told Bloomberg that ZTE will follow U.S. orders. The company was previously banned from operating in the U.S. for seven years for violating U.S. sanctions.
