Turkish officials seized roughly 1,200 life jackets deemed unsafe for use during a raid on an underground workshop. The floatation devices were reportedly made using Syrian child labor, and were likely going to be used by refugees seeking to travel to Greece by sea. Upon investigating the workshop, police found two young girls working and said the life jackets were stuffed with “packaging” rather than the materials necessary to keep someone afloat in water.
