Five people were killed and 33 others injured in Chicago this weekend, pushing the city's total number of shootings this year to over 1,000. Tallies kept by the Chicago Tribune put the number of shootings through June 8 at roughly 1,050—a jump from 924 by the same period last year and 820 the year before that. A 17-year-old boy was among those killed this weekend, apparetly as he was leaving a party.
