Freddie Gray wasn’t the only man arrested by Baltimore Police to have suffered serious injuries, according to a Baltimore Sun investigation. The newpaper found that between June 2012 and April 2015, the Baltimore City Detention Center turned away more than 2,500 arrests because the suspects had serious injuries. Records show those included “fractured bones, facial trauma, and hypertension,” and that “123 had visible head injuries.” Lawsuits against the police reportedly cost Baltimore more than $6 million. The Baltimore Police Department did not respond to The Sun’s request for comment.
