Migrants traveling with a group of about 50—most from Somalia and Afghanistan—were killed along the so-called Western path to Europe on Friday when they were struck by a train. On Sunday, hundreds of migrants drowned in the Mediterranean after yet another boat sunk, prompting a forceful response by the European Union.
