Winter may be coming, but the world is heating up. 2014 is on track to be the hottest on record if it closes out how it began, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. September and the six months prior were confirmed as the warmest since official record keeping began in 1880. All of the years in the top 10 warmest have been since 2000.
