The accidental dropping of a hand grenade led to an explosion at an ammo depot in Turkey that killed 25 soldiers and injured 4 more on Wednesday night, the Turkish government said. The blast broke windows in nearby homes in the town of Afyonkarahisar. “One hand grenade was dropped during stock-taking and sorting, causing a large explosion,” said government minister Veysel Eroglu. “There was no external intervention. There certainly was no sabotage or anything like that.” Eroglu said that soldiers were detonating ordinance scattered by the blast using controlled explosions on Thursday morning.
