The Lion King (1994), The Breakfast Club (1985), and The Princess Bride are among the 25 classic films that will be added to the National Film Registry, the Library of Congress announced Wednesday. Other films added this year include Wes Anderson’s Rushmore (1998); James Dean’s first movie, East of Eden (1955); outlaw comedy Thelma & Louise (1991); and Funny Girl (1968), starring Barbra Streisand. Established in 1988, the National Film Registry selects 25 films each year that showcase “the range and diversity of American film heritage.” Its complete listing can be found online.
