Three people were taken to the hospital after a ceiling collapsed at a Minneapolis nightclub Wednesday night. A 30-foot-by-30-foot section of the ceiling caved in above the balcony DJ booth at the nightclub First Avenue during a performance by Canadian metal band Theory of a Deadman. The show was canceled and around 1,000 people were subsequently evacuated. “A large portion of the ceiling fell and took out water pipes with it,” said Nate Kranz, First Avenue general manager. “We have no idea why or how it happened.” Firefighters were evaluating the structural integrity of the building.
