5 NOLA Cops Botched Kid Sex-Abuse Probes

BAD COP

According to city’s inspector general report.

A city report found that five detectives in the New Orleans Police Department systematically failed to document and investigate child sex abuse and rape cases. The cops in question did not write investigative reports for 86 percent of the 1,290 sexual-assault or child-abuse calls they were assigned to investigate between 2011 and 2013. Only 105 cases during this time were ever presented to the district attorney’s office; 74 were prosecuted, but because the district attorney’s office conducted its own investigation. “These allegations suggest an indifference toward our citizens that will not be tolerated,” Inspector General Ed Quatrevaux said on Wednesday. The five detectives have been transferred to street patrol, and two of their supervisors have also been reassigned. They all remain under investigation.
