52 Inmates Dead in Mexican Prison Riot

A riot that broke out between rival drug gangs at a prison in Monterrey, Mexico, killed 52 people and injured 12 others, police said Thursday. The fight began overnight in two areas of the facility between part of the Zetas gang and another group. Several prisoners set fire to food and housing areas. Witnesses said several inmates had burn wounds. There was no gunfire, and it was not clear in what way the victims died.
