The Orthodox Jewish family who lost seven kids in a Brooklyn fire on Saturday are heading to Israel, where they intend to bury the bodies. Mourners in the community gathered Sunday to remember the children, ages 5 to 16, before father Gabriel Sassoon returned to Israel for the burial in Jerusalem, community leaders said. Sassoon’s surviving wife, Gayle, and 14-year-old daughter, Siporah, remain in critical condition on respirators. The children were killed after a malfunctioning hot plate left on likely sparked a fire, trapping the kids on the second floor of their Brooklyn home. The fire was the city’s deadliest in eight years.
