At least seven people were shot and a mother killed Thursday night at her toddler’s birthday party in Dyersburg, Tennessee. A 6-year-old was among the victims and is in critical condition; and the mom, identified by neighbors as a 21-year-old, died at the scene from her wounds, according to local press reports. Police said they responded to a call about a mass shooting at around 7 p.m. at a 2-year-old’s birthday party. The condition of additional victims is not yet known, but they have been transported to a local hospital that is on lockdown. Neighbors said several gunmen opened fire on party guests while they were sitting on the home’s front porch, and then fled on foot. Police were searching for as many as three gunmen late Thursday. “It was hysterical. The baby was sitting in the high chair and there was, I know, two on the porch that were shot. The one lady that I was helping was on the ground,” witness and neighbor Stephanie Childress told reporters. “She was shot here in the chest, so we were applying pressure... She was gasping for breath.”
