More than 95 percent of the workers who sued New York City over health damages they suffered in the 9/11 rescue effort agreed to a deal Friday, allowing $625 million in payouts to move forward. The settlement marks the end of a seven-year battle the group police officers, firefighters and other city works fought to receive compensation and recognition for their work at the World Trade Center site. The plaintiffs, whose individual payouts will range from $3,250 to $1.8 million, feel they're being shortchanged, but said the deal was probably the best they could get.
